This 1961 Chrysler Newport Town and Country Nine-Passenger Station Wagon was purchased by me from the original owner's family in 1998, thanks to the Towe Auto Museum.

The Jergen Vind family purchased 2 new 1961 Newport Town and Country Station Wagons at the Earle C. Anthony Chrysler Dealership in San Francisco, California. Unfortunately, the whereabouts of the other is unknown.

Its original colors were Sahara Sand with an Alaskan White top. Years later, the original owner repainted it Tuscany Bronze with the Alaskan White top. In 1999, I found this original Chrysler advertisement showing a Newport Station Wagon in Sahara Sand with a Tuscany Bronze top. I liked the color combination so much that I had the wagon repainted to match the ad.

As of April 2000, this Newport has been in 3 car shows and has been awarded 2 trophies and an achievement award. The Newport has been proven quite reliable, and is a very practical show car. It has even been spotted several times at the hardware store and at the grocery store.

The Teddy Bears had their picnic in the park in June 2001 as part of Mopar Day in the Park VIII. They certainly enjoyed everyone stopping by and saying hello to them, as well as enjoying sitting in their automobile. |
